Station Biologique de Roscoff (SBR)

Vaulot has greatly contributed to the isolation of new species of phytoplankton using flow cytometer cell sorting, characterizing picoeukaryote diversity by molecular approaches and created the Roscoff Culture Collection hosting > 3000 strains of microalgae, bacteria and viruses, and have pioneered metagenomics of marine picoeukaryotes. The team has developed and used metabarcoding during the international Ocean Sampling Day and Tara-Oceans projects, and developed the database PR2. He has participated in two research projects in the Canadian Arctic, MALINA in 2009 and Green Edge in 2016 sampling the ice and water column off Baffin Island. Vaulot will contribute with strains from RCC and all sorts of expert advice.
